Doing Good

Well thinking still about this being a New Year and it being the first week of it, I ran across a statement that has long been attributed to John Wesley (1703-1791), that I think is worthy of pursuing.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can,in all the ways you can,in all the places you can,at all the times you can,to all the people you can,as long as ever you can.”Just imagine if we really sought to live in a way that does just what that little statement suggests. What a difference an attitude like that would make. It is certainly a Christ centered approach even though he is not mentioned. It all starts by doing GOOD, and reaching out to others, not being too busy to stop and recognize the needs of others, shine in places that you visit, find time to pursue what is worthy, not letting the world’s distractions take second place, and embrace a quiet time of reflection every now and then.

Thank God for the many ways he has stood beside you, guided you, helped you through difficult situations and most of all, recognize the many blessings that he has showered down on you.
This is the beginning of a New Year that God has given us; take advantage of the opportunities to make some changes, enjoy life even if the circumstances are not as you would like, and trust God with each new day, prayerfully seeking his will.

“Doing good is excellent and profitable for everyone. It benefits not only those who receive our good deeds but also ourselves and the broader community. When we do good, we reflect God’s character and bring glory to Him. Our actions become a testimony of God’s love and grace to those around us.” Pathway Church
Titus 3:8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Lord, as we consider Your Word today, help us to have a true desire to do good, and let that be a reflection of Your work in us. May Your Spirit guide us and empower us to live out our faith. Amen.
Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through
